Ascents by Will Vidler having Distinct route

So endeth the send drought. Third go today (including warm up/equipping) and it was a bit of a fight. I was cruising so hard on my first RP go that I forgot to try and dropped the last hard move, but then managed to battle my way through a few little stuff ups on the second RP and clipped the chains. Yay! I would oh so love to take 29 for this, as it would be my first, but alas it is not to be. All up it took; 2 nothing burns to not even half way, 4 equipping/warm up laps, 4 working laps, and 5 proper red point goes. Lovely.

Fourth go of the day. In the rain. Full value.

6 tie ins. Punted off the jug on number 4.

Just managed it fourth go of the day and last go before the snow was coming in. It felt quite hard after a year of bouldering. I think I spent maybe four days on it and had a number of goes somewhere in the mid to high teens. The shot before I sent ended with me not quite catching the clipping jug at the anchors, peeling off backwards, and whipping the entire route having skipped the last bolt. Exciting! I hopped back on soon after because i’d hurt my ankle a bit hitting the wall and didn’t want it to stiffen up. Classic scenes in the park.

warm up

Joyful. Third day on and four hours sleep is the money. Four warm up/beta laps and five red point goes including two lovely punts off the top because i’m an idiot.

Holds were wet. It felt hard. The start was way more fun than I remembered though; techo sidepulls all the way.

Moves felt harder than on Middle Earth but I did manage them. Just one go.

The top boulder is proper rad but I found the first half really sharp and unpleasant. Might be worth doing but I dunnoooo. (x2)

Not that impressed?

Still not a fan but it is a good test piece.

End of day play. Didn’t do the move.

Still didn't do the move. Damn. A poor warm up.

Had a bit of a go on the start boulder before Dillon punted and stacked it. Shenanigans ensued.

Went up to the pocket boulder straight after trying Akimbo but sucked on that due to a combination of cold (oh so cold) and not committing at all. Came down. Tried it again after and did all the moves to the top easy, silly boy. Maybe I'll climb this before I forget all the beta again. (x1.5)

Major exhaustion. Didn't go to the top.

Just went up once to give Garry an opinion on the grade. I think it would be a very very stiff boulder at 28 but it could be a fair bit easier if you’re tall so hard to say. I reckon 29 is probably more likely.
