Nae bother on the unexpectedly successful warm up. Covid vaccine power strikes again!

Fourth go of the day. In the rain. Full value.

6 tie ins. Punted off the jug on number 4.

Climbing could be better but, ya know, it’s the Moai. Arrived at 4:30am, slept a few hours, then hiked out there. I love Lutruwita. Single pitch.

A bad warm up. One very unsuccessful go in the dark two years ago that didn’t get to the top, one go two days ago, and one go today. Adrian sent Punks so I couldn’t not do it. Quality peanut gallery support from Dad who arrived just in time for the send.

Just managed it fourth go of the day and last go before the snow was coming in. It felt quite hard after a year of bouldering. I think I spent maybe four days on it and had a number of goes somewhere in the mid to high teens. The shot before I sent ended with me not quite catching the clipping jug at the anchors, peeling off backwards, and whipping the entire route having skipped the last bolt. Exciting! I hopped back on soon after because i’d hurt my ankle a bit hitting the wall and didn’t want it to stiffen up. Classic scenes in the park.

Same experience as last time. Good to do some hard moves at the end of the day though.

Had a play as the storm rolled in. Mega classic steep slabbing. Did all the moves up to the Brummel move (which I have done before) except for getting established on the flake, then came down. Wildly good.

Two goes as there were queues on everything else. On the warm up the moves felt the easiest they ever have, but by the time I had my second go humidity had doubled from 35% to 70% and it all felt quite hard. Was brilliant to see Brad's brilliant fight to an awesome send. Strong Brad is reborn as Enduro Brad.

Worthwhile. Lots of rock climbing.

Stuck with the paint theme and did this one. Fun.

Is it 27? 26? 25? Who knows! Regardless it was good to not miss the opportunity on this pleasant softie. I shan’t downgrade it but I shall look at this tick with self imposed derision. Hmmmm.

Second go.

Bad choice for the warm up but managed to work it out. Felt tricky in the mega spooge but mustn't be too hard if I did it regardless. Probably the best route here.

High pointed on the warm up hanging the draws proj melting off after the bump and did an end of day lap clean. Not bad for 11th day on.

Nice to jump back on after almost exactly a month away. Grand connies before the storm, I did suck quite a bit though. No skin and sore muscles and maximum fear on the heel spins.

Warm up. Liz sent! Best day out in a good long while. How good is rock climbing hey?!

Three asthma laps trying to suck some oxygen in and getting pumped, I guess this is training for altitude? Didn't truly re tick it as I had to jump off at the last bolt because the top was running with water.

Hard!

By far my best effort yet. On my third go I went from the jug at the first bolt (skipping just the first move) all the way to the set up into the cartoon (main) crux but was gassed and couldn’t clip. Rad. Will need to invest in a knee pad probably and also hope for some non-sauna conditions. (x3)

Headed down after Shipley. Sorted some new foot beta for the start of the Cartoon Crux, made some links, gradually getting better at the heel spins. Rad. (x2)

Re-did the moves up to where it rejoins Tsunami. It’s kinda rad but i’m not fully convinced. One go.

Trying some new links today. Went from the knee bar to the jump at the end of the first crux twice and from the ground (kind of) into the first crux. Did some refinement on the cartoon crux and the linking sequence too. This route is still the radness. (x3)

Two goes and one half aid draw retrieval mission. A footer I use down low is gone which is sad but otherwise the same as normal; sequences are fine but linkage is hard. Oh well.

Pulled on thrice today which was a pb. Linked the first boulder as a whole sequence on my first lap and re-did all the moves to the top, second lap I linked from below the first boulder to the cartoon crux which I tried to climb into but grabbed the draw. Tried new heel hook beta here which was rad, did the move a few times. Third lap tried for more links but was too smoked. Turns out being fifth day on is the money! (x3)

Did all the moves and went to the top first go today in a mammoth 1.5 hour dogging bonanza (thanks Lewis for the monster belay!!) Super super super psyched but i think that managing the sequences has just made me realise how properly hard this thing actually is! It’s also the most mega though and i’m psyched to put some effort into it! Gotta get strong. (x2)

I have also done this many many times this year. 15 moves is the current best effort.

Not an ideal route for fifth day on, but we will overcome! Didn't get super far, felt quite overwhelmed, was a full value experience. Psyched to have opened the account. 2021!
