Routes as trad in Bolton

Climb the obvious left-facing corning with a thin crack at the back. Gear is thin and tricky at times.

Get onto the route by pulling a hard (for the grade) boulder problem. Then some great climbing up a dihedral, step right over the arrete when you can, and continue up the face to a final steep section before the anchor.

P1. 5.11a climb up to the anchor below roof. P2. 5.12a Out the finger crack in the 8ft roof, to the moderate splitter above.

P2 var: 5.8+ PG. from anchor traverse out right, pull easily onto upper face, then back left to crack.

(also, apparently, sometimes incorrectly called Captain's Crack)

Crack past the right end of the ledge.

(Or 5.10a A1). A trad continuation/2nd pitch to "Fresh Meat".

(Can be done in 2 pitches, using the anchor for "Paradox")

More of an approach for the ledge the next 3 climbs start from than a climb in its own right.

Or 5.8 var.

Finishes on the ledge.

Climb the right-facing corner to the ledge, then walk about 20ft left along the ledge & belay. Then climb face & open-book corner above.

Start as per "In the Pines", but at the ledge, continue directly upwards.

Usually top-roped.

Optional top-out pitch for "Noises in the Night" or "Full Term".

Rap off trees, or walk-off right.
