Ascents by Christoph Rauch having Distinct route

Nice chimney. Placed two small, but decent wires. Actually neither hard nor scary if you're used to chimneys.

Interesting route for the grade. Unfortunately, there is exactly one spruce in the way, so the sun didn't come through completely.

Demands a lot of commitment for the grade if you don't have really large cams. The most difficult passage is also the most exposed. Good climbing for sure.

Classic chimney adventure. Quite well-protected start, you can place big slings just before the entrance to the chimney, which is good because that is the hardest part of the route. Quite a narrow gap to squeeze through, luckily there are a few footholds on the left wall and there's even one bigger hold on the inside. After that, it's 40 meters of unprotected chimney. After around 15 meters, it gets wider and there's a big rib in the back. I made my upward progress by jamming my fist and left leg into the left crack while jamming my right foot toe to heel into the right one. Certainly possible to just stem all the way, but this somehow felt safer. I set up belay on the ledge after 30 meters. The last 10 meters of chimney are pure stemming bliss, almost entirely without any disturbing footholds. :-D From the "middle finger", it's one small step and an easy groove to the main summit.

A true masterpiece. Slabby first pitch onto the big ledge, then brilliant structures along the "porcelain arête" to the start of unique diagonal chimneys, followed by a ridiculous series of grooves reminiscent of amusement park slides. The final two pitches you are horseback riding up two fins, with a little chimney/wall climbing intermezzo. Protection is extremely scarce, but if you keep a clear head, it's no issue.

Not as easy as the name suggests. The first pitch up to the abseil point was already challenging and not protectable. Especially one move at about 10 m was scary. After a good look through the window, we chose to climb the chimney on the inside, which was a fun squeeze. After yet another little chimney, a somewhat sketchy section past a sandy bulge leads to a big platform. From here, it's another solo pitch to the summit via two ridges and a slabby groove (which the guide book calls a chimney for some reason).

Looooong traverse around half the tower. There are a few good placements for slings, but I didn't want to introduce drag, so I didn't put any protection in. You can more easily belay your second, too, by walking along the top of the tower.

Soloed the first pitch after a quick abseil, then soloed the second pitch with rope attached. Nice little chimney/offwidth practice at the start of the second pitch.

A steep hike around the tower, good rock tunnel at the halfway point.

Narrow chimney into wide bridging chimney, funny see-through hole in the middle.

If there were similar routes of this grade at home, I would want to climb them all. So varied and beautiful. Wide crack with lots of holds to both sides. Good slings top and bottom, but long runout in the middle.

Wanted to climb "Westkante", but that didn't seem nice enough, so we decided to solo the AW, which is stiff in the grade, but nice! #barefoot

Solo with rope attached. Very nice and quite safe. The upper part looks intimidating, but there are lots of hidden jugs. Second pitch from the balcony is just a formality.

Nice to get into sandstone again. Trivial start up the rib, then not so trivial up the crack to the ridge (but with safe jams) and a short easy wall to the summit.

Easy slab, we climbed this because we were somehow confused about the location of the nearby summits, so we could have a look at the book at the summit. #barefoot

Easy up the little pillar. The following crack dihedral is interesting for the grade. Delightful chimney to the top.

Direct variant. Good, but not as elegant as the original. Quite steep for the grade, though.

Awkward right-leaning groove to a ledge, then one daring move on the arête.

A bit short, but not a bad route. Nice little pillar to a good thread, then crux passage up the crack to the ledge below the summit.
