Sun 11th Dec 2022 - Kurraba Point
Harbour Side Slabs The Steel Cap Slabs
V4 Oh Man, Oh Man, Oh Man Boulder 5m Classic
We put up with the mediocre sidestops of bluies and buffalo and stuff, its not the focus but we put up with it.. all of it, in order to achieve the main aim of going down the road to kurraba point ferry stop in sydneys suburban north with uncle craigs outdoor couch cushions and togs for the harbour cool-off afterwards, and having a crack at the local layback boulder. This delicate little piece was almost worth the warm up fall that cost me my sunnies. Nice delicate arete layback and a measured deadpoint up high. The best part of it: yim was too short to reach the start hold. Karma for that self-advocating disco crag write up. To all aspiring headpointers, theres a rusted carrot up top if god forbid youve got the time, patience and desire for public embarrassment to bring a rope here.

V3 V3/4 Henry Barber Arete - with moses Boulder 3m Classic
Hmm never logged a dab before, dab is a pretty conservative ascent type for using 2 points of council-installed aid. A good weather day in launnie prompted moses and i to waddle down to shady side with some boulder pads and rip skin. Moses flashed a v5 that i sampled and could verify wasnt v1. A few average morning boulders culminated in lunch at the double dozen dome. I lumped a pad under double dozen and onsighted to the ledge on my 147th attempt at it! Pretty stoked to get the OS after all the failed attempts. DD start indeed boasted all the qualities of a classic boulder: A hip bar, a disgraceful flared hand and a slippery finger lock. Moses took abit of convincing to get onboard with this opinion. We were licking our wounds on the walk back to the expired parking ticket when we stumbled across a strangely placed park bench that prompted us to investigate the arete to its left. Upon moses searching it on the crag and learning the climb was accredited to the one and only, we had to drop our bags. Had a couple of cracks at the ground start and quickly realised why launceston installed the parkseat. I stepped in off the seat, which by the way i found to be strictly a misnomer.. it was much more useful to step off said seat than sit off it. Still a few lovely smears and a playful rounding of the arete to go free followed by an airy step up undercling to grab the sloping top of the boulder.. or in my case, what looked like an old antenna peg drilled into the top. Thankyou hot henry for your vision in establishing this line and youll be engratiated to learn that no cams were used in either of our ascents. The Henry Barber memorial tour of '22 is officially on the road!

Devil's Kitchen Devil's Fish Bowl
V1 Knee Jammers Delight - with Jarred Vardy, Will West, connor Boulder 6m Average
A fun few hours refusing to sit start at the real crag, trying to get stuck in the chimney, creating a more wholesome variant finish to the route called 'not a club trip', going to annoy all of the real boulderers, then coming back up here to muck around in the chimney some more. The boys and their chicken wings.. sometimes you just cant get in the way. great to see the gang getting wide!

Sun 4th Jul 2021 - Bowen
Horseshoe Bay South Side Lookout Rock
V1 Tom's Been a Good Boy - with Nieve Tobin, Jarred Vardy, Elijah Benjamin-Wood, georgia, tom preen Boulder 7m Very Good
..is not what santa is thinking when half the hommus jar has disappeared into thin air. Nice choice of face/crack at the start and a very secure chockstone pull up to top out at the lookout.

V2 Santa's Escape Boulder 7m Very Good
Nice crumbly off-width highball to put all the relatively new climbers on lol.. Quite safe up the top though and pretty downclimbable from the knee jam section. A lovely top out at the lookout. Great to see some boulderers having a crack!
