This is indeed a cute slab.

With a name like this, it was fitting for me to eventually climb this route. Need good headgame for getting to the second bolt calmly. Then a nice techy crux higher up

Maybe the crux is very cool if you do it differently than I did, which involved matching two pockets consecutively...

Backlogging. Excellent, big moves to jugs throughout

Infuriatingly blew the onsight of this amazing route centimetres from the anchor clip jug by following the chalked up not-holds that lead to nowhere. I guess I have now contributed to that chalk, inadvertently screwing up the next guy’s onsight. 🤷‍♀️

Really great flowy climbing. The traverse off the undercling wasn’t the crux for me: yeah you have to smear, but not desperately. Because the undercling is so good, you can just press your whole foot on the wall, and the flake out left (containing actual footholds!) comes soon enough. Nah, the crux was the sequence right before, working your feet up and navigating the sidepulls to gain the undercling.

Loved the traverse to the anchors (worth the immense rope drag!). Rest well in the jug encrusted caves, all the hard moves are right at the end!

Thought this was a flash but have been assured I have played around on the start a couple years ago.

Damn this is so reach-dependent. Grade 17 climbing to a crux that is definitely nails for 21 if you can’t span it. I had my feet somewhere around my elbows and it was still a deadpoint

Had definitely tried this years ago but day-flashed it (is day-flash still a thing or have the ethics police come for that term?). At the time I thought the crux was hard for the grade… it probably is.

First proper go at the mantle on top was all technique and elegance. Of course I did it beached whale style on the actual send 😣

Finally “finished” the Alfords main wall with this tick. Very hard sequence over the bulge that I was finally strong enough to stick, then super flowy top section.

Backlogging

Cool big moves, then rest in cave, then surprisingly easy lip pulling on mega jugs, then a reachy slabby move on top to get to the anchors. Would be a mega classic if twice as long and less muddy.
