Waaaay too hot in the sun today. This felt hard.

Hard to judge as I hadn’t slept. One hard move. From that one hard move it’s on all the way to the first anchor. Cool interesting moves and lots of different styles. Even managed a full sit down at one point.

Didn’t sleep so I was just playing around seeing if I can climb. Still don’t know because this felt more like a 7b!! (Or I was really tired… ). The lower supposed crux wasn’t too bad. The run out section is where I found it. It either meanders a lot and I missed it or it’s just hard and powerful. Either way… now I really am too tired. (And I still have to get down the canyon….)

Hands fatigued on 2 holds. Need an extra day between Kostas and small crimps.

As I was lowering over it from viavai, thought it would be a good excuse for an extra lap for a warm up

Flash pump fail. Worked out a static start though

Even the jugs were slippery. Maybe not on a hot day.

Just couldn’t reach the start move but otherwise really good.

It may have been the new set of cairns we followed that took us on a two hour detour (keep traversing, don’t follow the obvious cairns that take you up the hill once you’re already on the inchman track) but by the time we got to the base of this, my feet really didn’t appreciate it. I’m also rather crap on granite. Anyway... I didn’t have fun. Maybe others will....

It’s been a long time (20 years?) since I climbed granite. I feel like a beginner again. Tried to break in my new shoes. I shouldn’t have...

First time on dolerite.

Just wanted to check out where it was. First pitch was ok.

Not as nice as I remember.

First shot - easy start until you get to the prickly tufa. It does look like a lot of holds have been smashed off. Second shot - clean to a tricky move to a side pull above the last bolt... so maybe the broken holds don’t mean much (or I’m off route?). Just missed the side pull but then clean to anchor. The climb is coated in a lichenous powder that makes you over grip or feel like you are coming off at any moment. Maybe outside of winter this isn’t a problem but I don’t understand how this is a classic.

Slopey slappers on rounded lichenous crumbling tufas. So much joy.... but kinda interesting. I really should have had a rest day..

So much disappointment. So close but bloody hell. Hard to onsight. Not sure it’s just a 6c ... got there in the end... really good until it isn’t..
