A crazy route! A lot going on, with finger crack, many desperate mantles and extremely balancy, reachy clips. Ran out of skin, the rock is very sharp, so had to rap off one of Paul's (bomber) bolts. Thanks for putting up this route Paul it will become a true test piece with a bit of grinding down

Hard to fathom why this was done from a modern perspective ... easily up past good breaks, a more recent gal carrot, then two more past the M0 move - pull on a bolt to surmount a largely blind bulge, or your no-hands friction mantle. Then run it out like crazy toward the arete with a few poxy wires in a bit of incipient crack and the odd modern cam, if you dare. And who does these days, with the "1 bolt-per-metre" rule apparently now mandatory on the upper cliff. As for the DS visible from below, yes there are cam breaks below but the twin holes are blind, so no banana for the trad direttissima. And no reason to belay half-way on a single rusty 51 year old bolt when the modern rope will reach all the way. As for the "attempt": part rap inspection, part old biner retrieval, part rope solo doggy-dog, part jug and part Sunday afternoon excursion. But hey, the sun on those distant cliffs, and the Megalong so lushly green.

Bouldered the start to reinforce the recovered memories ... what's that, loud grunting sounds dimly emanating from 43 years ago? Ah yes, it was hard then, and who knows harder now. Must borrow some medium hexes and get back onto it.

Easily up to the steep crack then max effort and popped off inches from the post-crux jug at the ledge. Second ever fall onto a cam. Ha Ha. Must be about 19.

Picked the wrong flake to huck for. Fell and lowered rather than checking out the top. Which proved to be a mistake. Done as one big pitch from the ledge.

Tried it on lead with my beta, but realised it just didn't work. Came down and watched Joyu flash it to get us out of there with the sun going down. Need to work it some more before my next lead attempt.

Made it up to crux crimp, but right hand didn't feel strong in the 2 finger pocket. I've decided now to 3 finger crimp the front of the pocket. Did crux sequence again then lowered.

Awesome few start moves off the rail (very powerful) then great catch on the lip! Unfortunately a hold broke off above whilst I was trying to mantle over the lip didn't finish the route

Can't do the move, but didn't want to give it 100 percent either, what with the manky crux bolt. Be careful falling on this bolt. The glue around the bolt and the rock has cracked, and there is some movement there. An epic outwards whipper could end badly.

A very tough crux surrounded by easy climbing. Tried working the crux, managed to hit the good edge/pocket just below the bolt; but couldn't stick it. Need to be stronger!

Was excited to go do Radioactive Man, accidentally got on this instead. Made it about halfway before I fell, and was told that I was on a 25. Good fun though, but take care with the second bolt. Thanks to Anton Korsun who knew what I was climbing the whole time and was sandbagging me. Also there's a loose hold on the right above the first bolt. I'll come back and mark it clearly soon
