Es braucht im Klettergarten keiner 10 Stände mit jeweils 2 Bohrhaken am Wandfuss, wo man ohnehin gut steht. Wenn Jemand unbedingt Material loswerden will, bitte um Spende für Kletterrouten. Wenn das so weitergeht ist sonst vor lauter Haken am Wandfüß kein Fels mehr da.

An Samstagen, Sonntagen und Feiertagen besteht ab 10 Uhr ein Fahrverbot (Privatstraße).

Located in the woods, this area is a great place for different styles of climbing. Spectacular overhanging roofs and long slappy Routs. Park on the street where there are some tiny parking lots. You can already see the path uphill. Follow that a bit and after a few minutes you follow a bit tinier path until you see a stone tower with some really hard routes. Keep right until you see the hugh wall with the roof.

Die steirischen Bergführer begannen 1975 mit der Erschließung des „Burgstall-Felsen“ und schufen im weiteren Verlauf mit Unterstützung vieler Helfer in zahlreichen Arbeitseinsätzen mit Stahlseil, Krampen und Säge dieses Kletterparadies. Neben den Mehrseillängenrouten wurden im Verlauf der Jahre von zahlreichen, einheimischen Kletterern viele Varianten erschlossen.

Von der Ennstaler Bundesstrasse knapp nach Wörschach (Fahrtrichtung Schladming) rechts auf die Nebenstrasse abbiegen und entlang der Strasse bis zur Firma Pilz (Betonwerk- Baustoffhandel-Bau-GesmbH) fahren. 100m über der Firma "Pilz" ist ein eigener Parkplatz für die Kletterer errichtet worden. Von dort nach oben zu den Felsen wandern.

Auf keine Fall entlang der Strasse parken (alter Parkplatz), da es Probleme mit den Grundeigentümern gibt.

There are two sectors of single-pitch climbs at the Gösslerwand with good protection. Most of the routes are labeled on the rock with their name and grade. Few multi-pitch routes also exist.

Walk from Gössl towards the Toplitzsee. When the little street turns into a gravel road, continue for few minutes until you see the sign for "Klettergarten Sektion 1". Sektion 2 is just few minutes later on the gravel road. After the signs, it's just a short hike through the trees towards the rock.

A small crag in the middle of the woods on top of the Pfenningberg. You can basically climb all routes in a single visit.

All routes are bolted with two or three bolts in good positions and pigtail anchors on the top. However, there are some old pitons („Normalhaken“ in German).

Difficulties range from UIAA 5 to 7 and a project with unknown difficulty.

The "Lotta Wand" (Lotta Wall) is a granit wall typical for the area. Tradclimbing and Drytooling only. Very spectacular wall.

access issues

by car : its about 25min from linz. go to rottenegg and drive the street upstream the Große Rodel Tal till you reach the parking of the burenkogel (see there) by bike : you can take your bike with you in the train to rottenegg for 2 euro hiking : go to rottenegg by train and follow the hiking path upstream till you reach the marked stone (see below) from the other side.

by car : just drive to the parking lot of the burenkogel and park there. then cross the river over the bridge and turn right (by the house). Follow the hiking trail downstream for about 15-20min until you see a stone with red-white-red marks on it. The Lotta Wand is now left of you up in the forest. So climb a small path (if its still there) steep upwards until you see the cliff.

For ethic reasons and legal concerns the wall was not bolted. All routes are easy to belay with mobile traditional tools. Even no pegs are needed. On the top you will find several trees with rings and slings, so toproping and headpointing is easy. It is maybe the best tradclimbing spot in the mühlviertel. Also drytooling possible.

Also as big as the famous Burenkogel it was first found and cleaned in 2008, as it seems a bit hidden in the forest. All existing routes were defined and climbed by "fleisch" (Robert Wacha) and friends becomming their favorit tradclimbing playground.

Im Juni 2000 wurde durch den Alpenverein Gramastetten (Österreichischer Alpenverein, Sektion TK Linz) eine 10 Meter hohe und 125 Quadratmeter große Kletterwand in der Sporthalle der Gemeinde Gramastetten errichtet. Im April 2003 wurde die Wand durch ein 26 Quadratmeter großes Dach und im April 2007 durch eine 34 Quadratmeter große Boulderwand erweitert. 2015 wurde die Vorstiegskletterwand um eine neuen Bereich erweitert.

Um ganzjährigen klettern zu können, wurde im Herbst 2009 eine Infrarotheizung im Bereich der Kletterwand installiert.

The wall is oriented north-west and receives full sunlight in the evening.

There used to be lots of trees in front of the wall but they’ve all been cut down. Still lots of nettles and brambles but the approach should stay clear with regular use.

There used to be lots of moss on the wall. Has been cleaned in July 2019 and should hopefully stay clean now that the trees are gone.

Easy to reach via bicycle, bus or car.

You can park for free along the main road in the urban area.

Coming from Linz, there is a medieval tower („Burschenschafterturm“) at the end of the urban area right at the Danube. Immediately after the tower you should already be able to see the crag 20m to your left. There is a stone wall on the left side of the street which you have to climb. The wall is ~4m high at the tower but only ~1.5m high after 30m or so.

Be extra careful when crossing the street!

Kletterhalle Waizenkirchen ist eine kleine Community Halle. Hier kann nur in der Wintersaison (Schulbeginn bis 1. Mai) am Montag ab 19:30 und am Freitag ab 18:30 geklettert werden. Der Kletterturm, welcher direkt daneben steht, ist hingegen jederzeit zugänglich. Die Kletterhalle wird vom AV Waizenkirchen betreut. Es werden auch Kletterkurse für Anfänger organisiert. Im der Wintersaison gibt es auch ein wöchentliches Kindertraining.

Die Kletterhalle hat aufgrund ihrer geringen Höhe von nur 8m relativ viel Überhang zu bieten.

Am Rabenstein in St. Agatha gibt es aktuell 4 Routen. Wandhöhe ca. 22m. Routen müssen noch geputzt werden. Die linken beiden sind schon einigermaßen kletterbar (ca. 8), die rechten beiden müssen noch weiter geputzt werden (leichter).

In den überhängenden Felsen im rechten Wandbereich sind leider verbreitet gelbe Flechten, welche beim Klettern stören.

Nicht direkt zum Bauernhof am Ende der Straße zufahren, sondern bei einer Ausweichstelle ca. 300m vor dem Bauernhof parken. Nur Platz für zwei Autos. Hund am Bauernhof bellt nur und möchte gestreichelt werden

Gebiet hätte einiges an Potential.

Hochkönig massive is an alpine limestone area around Hochkönig peak (2941m47.4203339, 13.0624483)

Hochkönig area offers alpine climbing in predominant south orientation. The routes range from middle (200m) to long ones (800m), mostly running through water structured slabs and faces (unique and famous wasserrillen). The routes are mostly bolted, though often with substantial run-outs and the quality of rock is perfect.

Most of the peaks allow to rap off, some require usually comfortable descents including the principal Hochkönig peak, where the descent goes over an easy glacier and runs for almost 10km.

The usual start is at parking lot by Arthurhaus (above Mühlbach am Hochkönig) and the approach takes around 2 hours.

Priesterstein is one big boulder located in Oberau. It‘s about 12 meters high and offers mostly hard sport climbing routes (especially on the eastern and western face). There are only a handful of easier routes (5c-6c).
