Small climbing areas on a coastal walkway.
Mix of bouldering and trad routes. Sharp rocks and interesting limestone pancake formations.
Part of the walkway is on private land with riparian rights. Please be sensible, respectable and safe, helmet wearing for both climbers and belayers. Be considerate to other walkway users and residents of the area. Dogs are required to be on lead.
Cross the stream follow the sign for the 2hr coastal walkway, Midway Crag is shortly after private land gate down steeply sloped gully.
Waipu Cove has plenty of accommodation options.
The sea cliffs and boulders at this popular holiday spot had been known about by Phil Giles for some time. Some early trad climbs were done in the 90's recently more climbs and bouldering has been developed.
