Ascents in Black Velvet Wall

led p2. had to bail after p2 due to Dan's leg.

The plan: have an easy multi day in vegas on the way to yosemite. Reality: Get to the base after 10, already 4 parties on it. I choof up the variant start called the gobbler. Thought it was called that after someones college nickname but turns out a rope gobbling crack meant i had to climb 5m with the rope in my teeth and then tony had to self belay below it. Eventually joined on to the route, bailed after p5 cos we were still at the back of the train and it got too windy even after borrowing 2 different jackets off people at belay stations. All was not lost, tony found a perfect piss chimney at p3. We saved a partys stuck rope on the way down and walked out heroes! Heroes that bailed off a mostly bolted 5.10a that gets done 15 times a day. It did give us time to go look at the strip afterwards and have a cheeky slap on the pokes though.

Super classic multipitch climbing

One of the best

I led pitches 1,5,6 (crux chimney) ,7,9,11,13,15 onsight, 2nd all others clean. Had to climb through 2 slow parties. Heinous walk/scramble off when we got descent spot wrong. Long day.

Outstanding! So excited to onsite this outstanding wall! passed one party we used the rack reccomended from MTN proj. Disregard anything smaller than 0.3. 1 #4 kept it sane in the chimneys 9hrs 30 car to car

mega classic trad climbing. The chimney is so long and quite scary, had a super fun day climbing this.

Chris led pitch one on rope stoppers. I onsited pitch two, sustained but great climbing. Chris fell at the start of pitch three and wrecked his ankle, climb over. Long walk out back to the car.

Chimney horror. The route seems to go on forever.

This is the longest route I've freed. So many awesome, sustained moderate pitches. The grades aren't too hard or too soft, and each pitch's grade is consistent throughout. Leave 2-3 hours for the descent, and bring comfy shoes with good grip.

Alt lead with Dave, 10 pitches. Nice slab the whole way. The rock takes a bit of getting used to.
