Hochkönig massive is an alpine limestone area around Hochkönig peak (2941m47.4203339, 13.0624483)
Description
Hochkönig area offers alpine climbing in predominant south orientation. The routes range from middle (200m) to long ones (800m), mostly running through water structured slabs and faces (unique and famous wasserrillen). The routes are mostly bolted, though often with substantial run-outs and the quality of rock is perfect.
Most of the peaks allow to rap off, some require usually comfortable descents including the principal Hochkönig peak, where the descent goes over an easy glacier and runs for almost 10km.
Approach
The usual start is at parking lot by Arthurhaus (above Mühlbach am Hochkönig) and the approach takes around 2 hours.
