Access: Ignored climbing ban

After severe rainfall in early 2007 some rocks were dislodged from a non-climbing cliff above the promenade, not too far from the climbing sectors. After that the municipality restricted access to the promenade and banned walking and climbing until "works to protect pedestrians and climbers are performed". These works never started. Over the years people just started ignoring the signs and continued to walk, run and climb. No further problems have been reported, though funnily enough (also banned) pedestrians sometimes tell climbers that climbing is "not allowed". If this happens, don't pick a fight. Be polite and tell them that you would never climb on loose rock. Assure them that neither you nor they are in any danger.

Description

THE sunny Nafplio crag right at the public promenade.

There is a sign prohibiting climbing, but it is widely ignored by pedestrians and climbers.

Most routes, excluding the Pagaki sector, are located right above a pedestrian street which is quite busy, especially on weekends. Keep in mind that even the smallest falling pebble could hit bypassers who certainly do not take (and do not know how to take) any safety measures.

Approach

Walk the promendade from the big beach parking to the east, or alternatively from the city center from north/west.

Ethic inherited from Nafplio

No chipping on the stones please.

This would be the best sector! The impressive yellow overhang right of sector 'Octopussy'. The 3 routes need cleaning and rebolting. Bolted in 1994/1995.
