The Mägdeberg is one of the Hegauberge and is located in the district of the municipality of Mühlhausen-Ehingen. On the summit there is the ruin of the castle Mägdeberg offering wide panoramic views. The rock is volcanic (Phonolith and Natrolith) with many cracks but solid.
Before 2020, a printed guide book cloud be ordered on klettern-maegdeberg.de while the digital version was available at enziano.com (claims to become available again).

- i.S. 2-4m Hakenabstand und Umlenker mit 2 Haken, die oft am Umlenker nebendran hintersicherbar sind. Teilweise ist der erste Haken recht hoch - Clipstick mitnehmen? Einige Touren kann man von oben als Toprope einhängen.
Der Laubwald ist im April noch ohne Blätter, daher bis 19:30 wärmende Sonne (Sommerzeit).
Aktuell (Stand 2024) werden alle Umlenker mit zwei Haken ausgestattet und mit Ketten versehen. Zudem werden einzelne Zwischenhaken ausgetauscht.

Park at the parking space on the pass between Duchtlingen and Mülhausen-Ehingen. From there in 5 minutes through light forest to the rock. Follow the comfortable path on the left around the hill with the castle ruins.
Parken am Parkplatz am Pass zwischen Duchtlingen und Mühlhausen. Von dort dem Weg Richtung Burg folgen, bis links ein markierter Wanderweg abzweigt. Diesem für ca. 50m folgen und dann rechts Pfaden entland der Felsen folgen.
Alternativ mit dem Zug nach Mühlhausen b. Engen. Von hier in ca. 30min zu Fuß oder 20min mit dem Fahrrad zum Fels. Runter geht es mit dem Fahrrad natürlich deutlich schneller.
Where to stay
Übernachten bei der Burg ist verboten! Bitte einhalten, um das Klettern im Gebiet nicht zu gefährden.
Ethic
Well established
Re-bolting and addition of bolts to existing routes are problematic. The current protection is aligned with the placements the first climbers and route setters used originally. Therefore a lot of the first bolts are very high and a fall may cause serious injuries.
It is rumoured that there were attempts to improve protection but the bolts were removed by the old school climbers.
So either be brave and strong or use easier routes to set up a top rope. Alternatively use a clipstick for the first bolt, but have in mind that it is toprope!
Please don't toprope directly in the quicklinks/fixed carabiners, use your own material and only do the final lowering directly through the bolt/quicklink/fixed carabiner.
