Steep limestone cliff with lots of routes in excellent quality for hard movers.

Rock solid limestone, a big number of routes, mostly in the mid to harder range and easy to reach. The cliff is kept in the shade by big trees for most of the day. Some of the routes stay wet after rain.

access issues

Closed due to "Natura 2000" protection area. For latest information please contact the Interessensgemeinschaft Sporklettern Känten.

approach

From Villach take the highway A2 in direction Italy. Take the exit to B83 (Villach Warmbad) and drive back and onto Warmbader Strasse. After a few hundred meters take a left onto Warmbach Weg (Fitnessparkour Warmbad) and park there at the obvious parking. Hike right along the forrest until a big trail goes right into the forrest. Follow this trail, first flat and then up, keeping left. You will see a sign for the ancient Römerweg, stay right and continue up. The trail is well marked and soon you will see the cliff.

Der Staff ist ein recht unbekannter Tourenberg auf den zwei Kletterrouten in der Nordwand führen. Weg der Freunde 5+ und der von weitem gut sichtbare Staffkamin 4.

approach

Der Zustieg vom Parkplatz Seetal über Kapeller Alm und Gusenalm dauert ca. 75 Minuten und folgt dem Aufstieg über den spärlich ausgeschilderten Jägersteig und dann über das Schotterhaufen zum Wandfuß.

Der Abstieg führt den Grat hinunter Richtung Eckwand und Latschur. Unterhalb der Eckwand folgt man der Beschilderung Gusenalm. Der Weg bleibt größtenteils ein Steig und trifft erst kurz vor der Gusenalm auf den Fahrweg. Der Abstieg dauert etwa 3 Stunden.

Ein Klettergarten für anspruchsvolle Kletterer mit einerseits sehr technischen und kleingriffigen vertikalen Routen links und rechts der Höhle, andererseits der stark überhängenden Höhle in der Mitte.

Aufgrund der Exposition ein ideales Klettergebiet für die heiße Jahreszeit aber auch für die Zwischensaisonen. Leider bleibt das Kaltbad gerne nass, wenn es das Wasser nach starkem Regen beginnt durchzudrücken.

Manche Touren (wie z.B. Highway to hell) weisen leider Kunstgriffe auf.

Von der Kärnten Therme ca. 1.5km auf der Warmbader Straße Richtung Finkenstein fahren. Parkplätze sind links der Strasse (Bushaltestelle) bzw. weiter Richtung Finkenstein rechts (unter der Brücke).

Das Kaltbad wurde zu Beginn der 1990er Jahre erschlossen. Beteiligt waren unter anderem berühmte Kletterer wie Andreas Bergmann, Thomas Brandauer und Peter Poschinger.
