Routes in Lowland Outcrops for selected grade

Start Malky and move right into the blank looking face by face holds, to climb the thin crack to the top.

There's a white-ish corner above a terrace (3m right of Squirrel Slab), and to the left of it a small roof can be seen. Climb from the bottom of the corner, to directly underneath the small roof. From here move slightly leftwards to climb the left edge of the wall above, without moving into Squirrel Slab.

There is a bit of quartz on a wall just left of Destiny Groove. Climb this to a 'porthole' and keep climbing to the triangular roof. Climb straight up the Beak (nose, crux) without escaping left of right if you want to claim the grade. Protection is poor throughout. Bolt belay.

A natural eliminate between Termination and Eureka, without using holds or protection of either. From exactly below the small overlap with an obvious large undercling, climb straight up. Reaching the undercling is protected from below. The crux (above) is unprotected. Commitment and determination will see you through. Worth it if climbed purely.

Where the normal route diverges left, continue straight up via the thin crack.

Pull over the right hand side of the small roof and ascend via a crack to the break (strenuous). From here move to a good hold (junction with 'Dead Ringer'), then left to a crack, climbing this to just below the top before stepping out to the arete to finish.

The superb crack right of centre on the east face. Crux is the start. Low in the grade if you're fit!

This is the true line with the direct finish as originally intended. Steady but never desperate all the way, to hard move/slap to finish up the crack line. Lower off via the chains.

A hard move to leave the ground (micro wires protect) gains the sloping ledge. From here a strenuous moves up the sharp Arête leads up to the crux of Ouroborus which is rather contrasting. From here either sensibly escape left along ledges, or continue up the bold wall above an old peg. It is also possible to traverse right from the peg around the arete to finish up a groove.

The reason you went outside instead of staying in the Ratho wall? The beautiful twin flake cracks, a great route. Judicious use of both cracks makes it less brutal than appearances suggest.

Brilliant climbing up the slabby wall on the right of the East Bay - as good as short outcrop routes get. Plenty of gear and some good rests, but scarcely any moves below 5b! High in the grade.

The obvious groove at the extreme right of east bay, it give cruxy interesting climbing with some weird moves. Recently cleaned and is harder than it was originally, due to the loss of a large foot ledge from the crux.

Middle line up the wall and smeary bulge then easy slab.

Central line on the buttress with a technical lower wall leading to a powerful finish. Beware the crumble.

Climb Freakin’ to the 3rd bolt then direct over roof.
