Description

An outcropping of quartz monzonite with a box canyon in it, a short distance south-east of Las Vegas.

Another reasonable alternative to Red Rocks if there's rain.

Access issues

Climbers share the cliffs with petroglyphs. Take care to climb well away from the glyphs, to not harm them, and to not do anything that would cause the BLM to ban or restrict climbing.

Approach

About 16 miles from the US 93/95 split along US 95, look for a left-turn onto a small gravel road across the desert. Head up this about 2 miles, until you get to a set of powerlines. Turn right on the 2nd power line road. Follow this for about 2 miles, then turn left on a road up to the (now obvious) canyon and cliffs.

Ethic

Strong ground-up trad ethic, bolting frowned on.
