Fun sport / mixed crag, starts on recently bolted sandstone. Bring a single rack of cams for pro through the limestone band. Climb only when totally dry (no rain for 3+ days).
Sport: Some easy / intermediate routes with tightly spaced bolting. Some routes could use a couple of cams to protect through the limestone band. ~8 sport routes, 3 TR alternates that share anchors, 2 trad routes. Bring a 70m rope and a 0.4 cam for the 2 pitch "Expose Yourself (to fun)" 5.10b found at the eastern tip (the "prow") of the ship-like formation.
Park at the Andante trailhead. Only 8 parking spots, so consider carpooling or returning on an off-day (e.g., a weekday morning). Walk 100m west on the Andante trail, turn right (heading north) on the Thunder Mountain trail north loop, passing the Chimney Rock Pass trail on the left. walk ~800m (0.5mi) on the TM trail north loop and head north at the large drainage, toward the east tip of Fun Ship.
Climb only when totally dry (no rain for 3+ days). The holds (and possibly some larger flakes) are fragile and will break off when not dry! There are no washrooms. Leave no trace.
Bolted in 2020. MP is the only guide on the internet I'm aware of. Search for that guide. Some routes are on here just to log climbs that I did when visiting AZ. Thank you to the route developers. Any admin on the MP guide who wants to update or take admin to add routes on here is welcome.
