The climbing areas are located on the way to the beautiful Bärenschütz gorge.
The village of Mixnitz is the starting point for a popular hiking area (including the peaks Hochlantsch and Rote Wand) and a bunch of crags up the valley of the Mixnitzbach (including the well known Bärenschützklamm, a gorge).
detailed crag information and TOPOs covered by "Kletterführer Grazer Bergland" (Schall-Verlag, 2013/2021)
local alpine club's website (ÖAV Mixnitz), having up to date infos about access issues
touristic website with info about the area around Bärenschützklamm and some nice ideas what to else
Some crags (Schwaigerkamm, Brunntal) can only be accessed through the Bärenschützklamm, a gorge with a steep track. It's only opened from 1 May to 31 October, and there is a fee of about €5 for entering the gorge.
Due to a rockfall in 2020 the Bärenschützklamm remains closed for renovation work! (see forum entry Bärenschützklamm closed for details and updates)
🚉 local trains to station Mixnitz-Bärenschützklamm -- follow the yellow hiking guideposts to Bärenschützklamm. It's a walk of about 45min to reach the upper most point of the paved road/parking lot, where the inn GH Zur Bärenschützklamm is located. There starts the actual ascent to the climbing cliffs (variing, depending where you wanna climb).
there is parking lots (47.3333, 15.3692) next to the paved road to Bärenschützklamm . Can be very crowded though on nice summer days.
Did you know that you can create an account to record, track and share your climbing ascents? Thousands of climbers are already doing this.

ISBN: 978-3-95611-022-1
On the 44,000 meters of climbing researched for this book, epochal alpine milestones mingle with enjoyable new route creations. Climbing legends such as Albert Precht, Klaus Hoi and Heinz Zak comment on their passion for steep rock. Routes by climbing greats from long ago, such as Angelo Dibona or Hias Rebitsch, have been accurately recorded in line with modern requirements. There is also plenty of space dedicated to new routes secured with bolts by creative talents such as Ralf Sussmann, Rudi Kühberger and the author himself. 40 long routes with at least 20 pitches, where you can clip bolts in keeping with the spirit of the times, but sometimes also have to make do with rusty protection.
