Ascents in Single Cone

Picked a slightly harder line than the normal one, going a bit further right on the slab. Went right again from the belay on the ledge to go up some more slabs and then a chimney between Delta and Epsilon.

Variation on the first pitch was a grade 17ish slab, including a pretty spicy swing I was happy Gareth led, and a 30m runout.

The second pitch was probably a stiff 15 (but super fun climbing the whole time). Fun scramble to the top, took us to the slabs of the NE Ridge

First alpine route!

Used as the down climb from the GT. Did a variation staying on the ridge proper. No ropes were used.

Fun after work scramble up the ridge. Bit shorter and easier than the GT (and much less exposed).

Went for a mission up the South Face classic to see how it felt carrying skis while ice climbing - not too bad it turns out.

Walking up to Wye Saddle was pretty icey, and just before we got there one of Neal's skis abandoned him in the middle of a kick turn and zoomed back to Lake Alta, a good 150m of vertical below us, which made the walk in a bit longer.

On the first pitch my poorly fitted crampon detached from my ski boot and I had to come down and readjust. We split Touch Down into two pitches because we only had a few ice screws, and half of them were my Dad's old ones, which were so blunt you needed both hands to get them in.

I led the first 20m, and set up a belay on a V-thread and one of the old screws and Neal quested up the second. The South Face Classic was pretty cruisy, maybe a Mt Cook 2 or 2+. The most interesting bit was squeezing through a little chimney with the skis, and the very last 5m, which were rock covered in a little bit of powder. We simul climbed it in two long pitches.

Topping out we were pretty happy to have carried the skis, and we were back at the car 10 minutes after packing up.

First day on Ice in 2 years. 5 laps on the slabs with charlie. He lead the first, I secodned and then we top roped another section off the same anchors. I lead my first water Ice pitch so I'm stoked. Then we did 2 more laps through the steepest section to get a burn on. Super fun day out. Amped

Did 8 laps on various pitches of touchdown slabs as part of the remarkables ice and mixed festival clinic.

Winter ascent. Splitboard to below the gully. Roped up, clouds cleared as summited, rapped off and had a sweet run down to the car on the board. Great day out

Seconded 2 pitches and top roped 1 pitch on touchdown slabs. First time ice climbing. Super cool

Went up to have a run at Liposuction, but increasing winds persuaded us to opt for Plan B.

Probably got a bit off route and found the two piton anchor that's meant to mark the end of pitch one about halfway through pitch two. Still fun. Even though the rock is mostly moss.

Simul-climbed as a 3. Single Cone summit for NYE.
