Description

A cluster of small crags offering a day's mid-range top-roping in a spectacular setting.

Approach

Drive up to the top of Mt Tamalpais' East Peak and park in the large lot at the end ($8 per day, as of mid 2014). The formations are all located on the far (eastern) side of the peak, and are best accessed from the summit.

Walk to the summit hut from the car-park, then keep going. There is an obvious trail that continues along a ridge, with lots of nice spots to take photos from. The Obelisk/Leaning Tower will be down to your left from this ridge. Either tramp through the bushes to the left and descend a bit, then aim right when you get to an OK track - or at the very end of of the obvious path on the ridge, continue down a steeper rocky descent. As you descend you'll find an OK path in the shade - walk left and you'll get to The Leaning Tower.
