Fri 19th Jan 2024 - The You Yangs
Great Circle Drive North Gravel Pit Tor Area
20 Blue Sky Thinking — 2 attempts Mixed trad 25m, 4 Average
Ouch, rather sharp. These climbs were west facing but fortunately an overcast day. So nice not to be in a plus 20 dew point for a change!

20 Opium Mixed trad 15m, 3 Good
My left hand strayed towards the HS holds down low, as the right heel, lay off sloper to side pull felt more 25 for my height, and still tough up top. Not sure where the wires go, would be shallow placements in a flake I think- would be better with extra bolt and a second anchor bolt

Tue 3rd Oct 2023 - New River Gorge
Junkyard Junkyard Wall
5.10a The Entertainer Trad 21m
My right shoulder just can’t handle V grooves any more. Had to change sequence at start. Rest of it was fine.

6a+ Pipot — 2 attempts Trad 25m Very Good
Unexpected foot slip on first attempt. Came down and then went up. Nice movement

Sun 20th Aug 2023 - Lofoten
Austvågøy Svolvær- området Svolværgeita
6+ Englevinger Mixed trad 85m, 1 Very Good
Led P2 which was the crux. Missed a footer first time up. P3 has no real off width moves and was steep fun. The description and topo doesn’t make clear the down climb needed to get onto P3

Fond but sad memories from my previous ascent of this with Nick. Did it today from Blackmans camp with Dave and Jonty. The rocks average but the experience is great.

21 Wiggle It Just A Little Bit — 2 attempts Mixed trad 15m, 4 Good

17 Guided Missile Trad 80m Don't Bother
Rpt first pitch which is not too bad and worth doing but suggest abseil off tree. The loose blocks on P2 are still there and it was an unpleasant experience. P 3 ok. Going don’t bother because it’s a potentially dangerous route at present

12 The Gullet Trad 30m Good
FFA. An acquired taste, I thought the climbing was quite good despite the dirt, and enjoyed the horizontal chimney exit.

24 Border Patrol Mixed trad 25m, 5 Very Good
FFA. Great slab moves, through a Rooflet, a slab Dyno and then a nice finger crack.

24 Skeeta Mixed trad 20m, 3 Very Good

22 Honeycomb Trad 30m Very Good
Having seconded this a long time ago cleanly, I didn’t give it proper respect and botched the hand sequence on the Alzheimers OS attempt. Then got rained on twice, though fortunately the lower part of the route stayed mostly dry

Tue 17th May 2022 - Arapiles

Rpt. The rock was super cold and I lost feeling in my fingers

Fri 13th May 2022 - Arapiles
Northern Group Echo Crag
23 The Swarm Mixed trad 18m, 2 Good
I am pretty sure I belayed the FA of this a decade ago and declined to do it due to skin and reach. I was obviously more sensible back then. Everything today felt quite spoogy. This took a few more goes than it should have for the first 4 metres. I just kept sliding off the hold at the end of the crux next to the wire placement. It’s really a direct start to Psalm 69

Sun 10th Apr 2022 - Mount Wellington
Lost World Area Lost World
21 Atlantis Trad 25m Very Good
Kind of a dark pink point, took a single rack to #5 after dave left some gear in especially to protect start.Hard start, but nice varied climbing

I love old school gradesfrom 1969 with no cams! tried to reach the jug too early on the offwidth section. Pretty nice climb.

Mon 28th Mar 2022 - North East rock
Sisters
25 Sisters Trad 7m Very Good
FFA. Unless someone else wants to claim it, spotted this line last year, it took way too much skin and climbing days (3) but finally got the 3 sequences linked(success rate after figuring out the moves 70% first, 20% second, 30% third). Not that keen on having an accident on Flinders, so led it with 3 bits of gear- red C3, small wire, purple C3 and one more red C3 to top out.

Sun 27th Mar 2022 - Killiecrankie
Main Cliff Central Cliffs
24 The Gang-gang Gang Trad 30m Very Good
Not as good as the original, the traverse right to join BB is best done quickly on a low spooge day

14 Road End Trad 55m Good
FFA. Definitely a nicer way to get high up in this area than the HR or the LR with minimal gully exposure.

Fri 25th Mar 2022 - Killiecrankie
Main Cliff Central Cliffs
23 Angry Birds Trad 25m Very Good
FFA. Grade from the exit traverse, though good moves from the start. The linking traverse done low is kinder IMO having done them both, as the gear post traverse feels better. But the upper line is good too.

Thu 24th Mar 2022 - Killiecrankie
Main Cliff Central Cliffs
24 No Time for Games Trad 27m Classic
FFA. Team FFA, amazing what a bit less humidity can do. Interesting to compare our sequences which were quite different, especially on the left traverse. Worth the long walk from killiecrankie instead of Docks forachange

Mon 21st Mar 2022 - Killiecrankie
Main Cliff Campsite Buttress & Pinnacle
21 Dante In Furneaux Trad 30m Good
FFA. For technical crack lovers. I wanted to call it the Lube Tube, it was particularly slippery in the morning, but a sunset send by Dave in better but much hotter conditions was done. #4 very useful for the tricky tube bit.

Mon 21st Mar 2022 - Killiecrankie
Main Cliff Central Cliffs
19 Bower Bird Trad 27m Very Good
FFA. I just wanted to get above the wall of the gully, but this climb was great, gear just kept coming, with some airy technical moves on the arete

22 Bird Noises Trad 25m Very Good
FFA. If it wasn't for the start it would be classic, still damn good, amazing rock, and solid lead by Dave

Wed 9th Mar 2022 - Killiecrankie
Main Cliff Sedgies Buttress
21 Sedgie Returns Trad 25m Very Good
FFA. Had spied this after our rope got stuck in a crack earlier and I had to jumar up. A really nice link up, with a tricky traverse made interesting by the buttress namesake making an appearance. Double ropes needed, but well protected.

Thu 24th Feb 2022 - Lake Huntley
17 Easier than it looks Trad 35m Very Good
FFA. Seconded Dave, nice climbing, shame about the 50 mm rain event that meant it was a bit damp in parts

21 RAD ( Retired and Dangerous) Mixed trad 130m, 25 Very Good
FFA. Great exposure, and nice varied climbing. Hard to give a reliable opinion after the work involved putting it up, and walking in to do this and Dave’s route as a day trip. Again, the cracks were a bit damp in parts after a 50 mm rain event. Shady in the morning, gets some afternoon sun. Would go at 19A0.

23 Weena Mixed trad 30m, 2 Very Good
Double ropes, placed all the gear on lead, I did suss the #3 RP placements before hand, but had to problem solve a fair bit due to the fact that the gear fills some of the better holds. Quite pleased, there’s a few run outs and some of the gear placements are fairly blind, now I can just enjoy top roping it in future!

Gave the rebolt a whirl. A 0.75 needed above last bolt. One of the easier 24 s at MF, nice moves. The direct start awaits.

16 White water Dreaming Trad 30m Very Good
With the falls running, and the water lapping the start, this was quite atmospheric

14 Niagara falls Trad 18m Good
May previously have been done, not too bad

19 Nell Falls Trad 16m Good
Seconded Dave. Like a Frog offwidth of the grade ie bloody hard

Quite a nice route despite the Watagans rock. Easier than space ape. A 0.5 below roof and 0.75 above last bolt in pocket

20 Cock Crack Trad 38m Classic
Dropped the onsight on this a few years ago at 4 metres. Did better today, having forgotten that a triple rack in hand sizes is quite superfluous!

17 Erectile Kingpin Trad 16m Good
Backed off this a few years back with a sore shoulder. The shoulders still dodgy, but improved. Alzheimer’s os.

Sun 23rd May 2021 - Kaputar
Lindsay Rock Tops Fern Gully
18 Rhinoplasty Trad 60m Crap
This was a reminder that abseil inspection rather than a ground up approach is the saner option...the post fire appearance made it look ok, but it wasn’t.

Mon 8th Mar 2021 - Killiecrankie
Main Cliff Central Cliffs
22 Deb Ball Trad 40m Very Good
A long battle, dropping it on only on the exit move when the base of the v groove after the slanting hand crack was full of loose rock and dirt, with a larger loose boulder on top of the sedge and I decided I needed a #4 and a clean. I set up a belay 10 m from the top on hands free ledge below final crack and then climbed on. Great climbing, rock a little crumbly in spots.

Thu 4th Mar 2021 - Killiecrankie
Main Cliff Campsite Buttress & Pinnacle
22 Do Not Soak Trad 35m Very Good
Wimped out on first attempt at low roof and came down. The traverse after this crux is tricky and I thought the exit from the alcove was equally tricky, thinking it was DoNot Fear, then saw it written up this way on here. Given the general stiff grades it could all be considered a Flinders 20. ( go try slasher if you want another grade 20 to compare )

18 Farewell Gesture Trad 55m Classic
#3 cam size is not my forte, I had used one too early and not saved it for the section I needed it so lowered back to ledge to retrieve it and start again. Did the crux fine.

Sat 20th Feb 2021 - Frenchmans Cap Area
Frenchmans Cap South-East Face
19 The Newcastle start to Sydney route Trad 80m Good
We couldn’t suss out the start the day before due to the amount of rocks being dropped by a party on the route, so just headed up early morning to see if the super direct approach worked. Any placements we had needed major excavation, so whilst it’s possible the line has been done it didn’t feel like it. Felt a bit R even for Frenchman’s standards, but was enjoyable in a type 2 fun way.

26 Phoenix Rising Mixed trad 20m, 6 Very Good
I’m a pretty hopeless red pointer, but this project piqued my interest.Every moment figuring out the moves and linking them together has been a pleasure, in such a beautiful place. Seeing the bush spring back after the fires of last year is incredible. Earlier in the day, when I was 8 m up, and Dave on the ground, a wedge tail eagle pursued by a currawong did some proximity flying between us, about 2m out from the cliff.

Has the potential to be good as rock is immaculate for Kaputar. It’s all over after the start in terms of difficulty, but nice climbing after. Could be a 12 M1

FFA. Still needs another good clean, but quite interesting climbing. The v chimney is a bit gross, but the rest climbs well.

FFA. Perversely enjoyed this. Enough other features to avoid too much thrutching, but still butterflyhand stock was useful
