Ascents by Patrick Munnings having Distinct route

Accidental variation on pitch 2, veering left up tricky vertical bush bashing. Traversed right to the main line to the base of crux pitch.

Climbed in 1 pitch. Great exposure.

Hard and scary at the grade but really quality

Most of the top section was wet and mossy making slab climbing a little more interesting. Rather than climbing the chimney/waterfall we used the face 20m south to top out. This face had easily the best moves on the route. A nice outing with brilliant views but the climbing was underwhelming

Some unconventional moves and love the slightly overhung crack.

Some different and difficult moves for a 16 but great fun. No belay station, Bring a fist size cam for top belay.

Incredible! Would do again if I wasn't so buggered from the first lap. Full body fun. Moves I've never done and will maybe never do again!

Nice little route added to my solo circuit

A pleasant climb with steep judging and easy crack climbing.

Good climbing and gear and has a bolted anchor. Nothing special.

Awesome route however we had many stops along the way. Japholin was beautiful and we decided to leave packs at the bottom to speed up the day (terrible mistake). We then took the skyline traverse to the Starfactory and abseiled down to the slab below. From here we began what is likely a virgin ascent of a mid-level traverse beginning at 5pm below the Starfactory and ending at 3am at the top of the first pitch of Japholin. This route had some beautiful splitter crack climbs up to about grade 19 and some well protected slab traverses using slung trees. The large waxing gibbous moon provided just enough light to feel our way through the scrubby and slabby sections and find protection along the way. This traverse was a slow process with three people on 1 rope and meant that it took around 18 pitches to reach the end. At 3am the moon set below the Hazards. With no light at all we elected to spend the remainder of the night on a ledge in the cold and wind with 2 jumpers between the three of us. In the morning we woke and discovered our packs with sleeping bags, mats, food and water were only a 30m rappel below us. Many lessons were learned and all of us were stoked to be heading home for a quality nights sleep.
