Routes in Australia for selected grade

Variant start to Rhum Cognac. Start: Chimney/gully about 15m right of Rhum Cognac slab.

1. (10m) corner to ledge (tree).

2. (30m) move left into chimney and up to join the Rhum Cognac V-chimney.

Summary: Poor protection, average rock quality.

Location: Murwillumbah, Nobbys creek road, Second nob. Ask owners permission.

Route: Start to the right of the vertical section. Whack a sling around a protusion roughly 12m up (the crux). continue to first ledge. Then to the next ledge. Finish up to the old gnarly gum tree. Walk down the nob ( cant rap). 60m rope needed.

May be a repeat of "A Soft Furry Thing". As you walk past the southern face of the 'Mountain Lion' there is a slab with a broken corner with two cracks.

Start: 300m right of 'Solo Climb' at huge right angled corner with chimney in right wall.

1. 23m Chimney to tree.

2. 20m Chimney to tree.

Up the corner crack on a N-S running face approx 40 m N of Baal Rock

The corner left of the ledge which runs across the cliff low down. It's not certain which corner it is.

1. 12m The crack in the corner to ledge.

2. 37m The crack, rightwards when it forks.

Not a bad route, especially the first 30m or so. Start below the middle of 3 short cracks leading to the big ledge about 9m up.

1. 9m Crack to huge ledge.

2. 27m Step left then up the left-hand of twin cracks to the S-curve. Follow this left and up to belay below the sentry-box of Gawker.

3. 27m Move left and up wide left-sloping crack (a good alternative is to bridge the sentry-box section on Gawker).

Corner uphill from the L end of the slab.

“Secret Garden” 12m, A very nice grade 5, is about 100m left of the central butress at the very left of the ledge system. FA Demelza Wall (solo) 2005.
