Ascents in World by David Jefferson

Really quite fun! I surprised myself getting through the boulder problem, and had to find a good rest in the niche before committing to the exit moves. Probably my hardest onsight?

Don’t know if it’s because this line is short, soft, or suited me well, but I’m still chuffed with the onsight.

Short boulder problem start with one hard crimp.

Felt pretty soft for the grade, but I won't complain about taking the full 25 points for the onsight!

I'm going to break with tradition and give this line a star. While the rock quality is definitely sus in sections, for the most part the movement was interesting and bouldery, and I enjoyed the grand finale. Didn't expect to grab the onsight, but happy to walk away with it.

Didn't expect to walk away with the onsight of this line, but had a hero moment just barely latching the crimp at the top. Super fun!

Sick line, and as others have noted, the crux definitely comes after the roof. Be forewarned, there is a fairly crucial hold that is loose at the top, on the left face before moving into the corner. Get on the route before it sheds that hold, because I reckon it'll only get harder!

Mega steep jug haul to an overhanging stem corner. Simply awesome!

Better than expected, and characteristic Britten: a low boulder problem leads to a jug haul. Still, steeper than some above the crux.

Cracking moves traversing under and over the roof, deserves at least a star!

I really didn’t expect to onsight this, especially at the end of the day, so I’m well chuffed. Great fun. The top was definitely the crux for me.

Excellent climbing, good the whole way and would be very sustained without the rest ledge midway. A soft touch at 25, but great nonetheless.

Dirty and not entirely obvious climbing, had to fight for it at a couple of points. Good and airy!

I was well chuffed to onsight this today, 4th day on and 4th 25 in as many days. Difficult to hang draws, but managed to pull it off.

No real hard moves, just good old fashioned sustained crimping.

Warm up and warm down, the only route climbed today. Better than nothing!

Did this one just to grab a booty draw that someone apparently bailed off of. Strange choice really, given that the climber could have easily pulled through on the dogbone to reach the next bolt...

Definitely easier than 24 for me. Yes, I am about 6' tall, but it didn't even feel particularly reachy.

I didn't find it too contrived to stay off of Chimeroo. Fun crimping, and made for an exciting warm up!

The piton looked a bit dodgy so I unclipped it and clipped the second-to-last bolt on Wages after making the traverse.

Interesting and exciting finish.

Hard to truly call this an onsight, since I had already done Wages and Honed many times. Fun linkup, easier than the standard Honed finished.

Engaging movement at the crux, but absolutely rubbish rock at the top. Has 4 bolts, not the 5 listed on thecrag. Did I get the first onsight of this route?

Great moves the whole way on some of the best rock at the cliff.

Wow, what a beautiful pitch of climbing! Just keeps serving up compelling moves all the way to the chains. Some of the best rock on the Mount too.

Better than expected roped boulder problem, but oh so sharp! Single bolt anchor.

Chuffed with the onsight on this one, as the crux is quite tricky and hard to read. Uncharacteristic climbing for Britten.

Had to fight for this one at the end of the day. Nearly blew it at the top but managed to mantle out as my hands pried themselves open.

A bit harder to read than its neighbour, and equal in difficulty.

Sustained slabbing with no obvious crux, but goey nearly the whole way.

Bit of a stout warm up, but flowed pretty easily. A quality line!

Draws on onsight, equipped from SJ. This route really exceeded my expectations. Super fun and flowy movement up the arête.

For Britten, I reckon this route is a classic at the grade. Consistently interesting and good rock quality. Only problem was the profligate ticking of holds. Since I only used 25% of them, I’m still claiming the onsight. Buy a brush people, and bloody use it!

Probably 22 the way I did it, going left at the finish. Rather contrived not to though, as the ledges naturally lead left. Once and done!

The crux crimp came off in my hand but managed to stay on and send. Dirty, but decently fun, especially in the upper crack.

A bit wandery from side to side to figure out the sequence, but reasonably logical. Needs another bolt at the top to be a proper sport climb.

A contender for the worst route I’ve ever done. Wet, dirty, minging hard crux right off the ground, then an awkward ramble. Had to do it though, as it’s one of the few grade 24+ routes at Britten than remained to be ticked. Not recommended for any other purpose!

Finally dry at the start. Soft for the grade, but fun and juggy.

This thing wanders all over the shop, featuring some cool moves and positions. Had to work for the frictionless mantle at the top!

Really nice crimpy sequence on this one. Felt quite a bit easier than Microcosmos.

Not the 17 I was expecting to get on, but made it happen anyway. Erin was not pleased to have to clean it…

Pretty good warm up actually. Builds slowly with a climatic finish.

Bit ambitious for a warm up and the first route of the trip, but it worked out!

Not bad if you can climb steep jugs.

Love the committing throw to the lip, definitely a leap of faith for me!
