Ascensions de French Cuisine

A solid climb with a tricky first two clips. After pushing through the pump and a tricky chimney sequence, I say it is harder than its graded. Overall, a really good climb.

First fall taken wahoo.

Beautiful varied climb. Got scared in the chimney. Jug/side pull at the top of the chimney was wet with lots of algae which dripped down my arm. Less wet higher up in the hold.

Staunch start, after months off climbing evidently didn't have the beans or the skin. Will be back!

With bangin beta from Marnus got me to the top first go. So stoked. First few moves of the climb probably the most intense part. Some decents rests here and there. No way I wouldve got it w/o beta being screamed at me lol. ty ty bro

1 fall. Nearly got to the no hands rest before foot slip

Very good climb, a bit of everything.

Not proud but second time dogging this .

Hard dicey start. Pumpy after the crack then exciting chimney shimmy. Bit of everything. Felt hard for a 21.

Such a fun climb with lots of great moves. The top took me a while to muster up the courage to bridge the remaining moves and a committing move to pull up to the anchor. Needs a clean in a few places but other than that awesome fun.

Strenuous start with an interesting stemming finish.

Favorite 21 in NZ so far. Wonderful test piece for the grade.

Warmup Tricky at the grade

Fourth attempt overall, first of the day. Climbed it clean to placing and clipping fourth bolt. Rested on rope. Then did crux the way I wanted at first try and clean up to the anchors.

Red point! Fifth attempt overall and second attempt of the day. Climbed this smoothly all the way through. Executed crux sequence again, even better. Slightly nervous at the top but I have the stemming moves really dialled in. A bit of wind and cloudy, so the friction was really good. Love this climb as it has a bit of everything in it.

Yeees, managed to bag this send today with some beta help from Alexei Crux is from 4th to 5th bolt. Took a good long shake of arms and chalked after clipping 4th bolt by using awesome hidden undercling inside crack. Then grab horizontal slot with right hand and match with left, shift the feet, go out up and right for solid rough crimp, grab good sidepull in upper crack with left and lay back, getting feet properly positioned. Move right hand up to not great knob that is very slopey on top but pretty good as sidepull if you wrap the thumb. Then out left to crimp intermediate (or skip) and bump to really solid sloper. I clip there but can also clip from juggy flake just above the bolt. Then up into the bowl for stemmy finish
