Descrição

Strangely enough, the Western End is some way west of the lookout. East of the West is just west of the rock fall, and West of the West is even further west, past the small waterfall. If directionally challenged or desirous of personal wellbeing, stay in the comfort of your armchair and muse over these historical curiosities of a bygone era.

Questões de acesso

Discretion ensured: avoid the prying eyes of the many tourists at the Fairfax lookout.

Acesso

From the east, step discretely over the lookout railing and head west along a faint clifftop track. Detour widely past the dramatic, extremely loose, and shattered 2016 rockfall, and just past it, as the cliff decreases in height, attain the rusted remnants of a manky fisherman's descent just east of the small waterfall.

From the west, follow the wall from behind the bus stop near the cafe down to the edge, then turn left along the cliff top.

Ética

Apparently boltless pure trad heaven ... get onto them, if the climbs are actually not now a home to eager barnacles.

These climbs - or what's left of them - appear to be clinging precariously to the west end of the raw scar of the extremely loose 2016 rockfall. It would therefore appear that either extreme gumption, or unction, is a prerequisite for any attempt on these archaeological artefacts.

They at least used to start a third of the way down the rusted remains of the fishers descent.

Fechado

Start a third of the way down the fishers descent at the far right hand end of the ledge, if said ledge is not "washed by the rhythmic tides".

Traverse 12m right above the roof to the arete, if it exists, then follow the twin seams.

FA: Tom Williams

Fechado

Traverse 5m as for DoD then up groove. Seems to still be there.

Fechado

Traverse 3m as for DoD then up tips crack. Seems to still be there, and looks like there's blocks and trees above if you really need that kind of natural prophylaxis.

Fechado

"Scramble up just east of the waterfall, jam across roof, then up poorly protected corner." Or so the tale was told ...

Giant frayed hawser for intrepid fishers, closely followed by a small waterfall is here: -33.8215, 151.2945

These climbs start 40m west of the waterfall

Fechado

"A worthless wander up an easy wall" Abseil to ledge well above water level 40m west of the waterfall, then up break 5m from east end of ledge.

Fechado

Starts from narrowest point of DAA ledge. To base of yellow and brown corner (suitably metaphorical colours? - Ed). Up corner to then around roof.

Fechado

The top of the Surges wall comprises a thick layer of natural dirt perched on the cliff, backed by a layer of low burnt herbage. Belays would therefore seem fanciful.

Start: Abseil to grassy ledge 10m west of BAS. Up flaring hand crack to top of grey slab, left then back right.

Fechado

Twin cracks 4m left of Surges to top of detached slab.

Fechado

Oblique arete on west end of Surges terrace.

Fechado

Shallow corner 3m left of CSC

Fechado

As for DD then round arete to steep hand crack.

Fechado

Abseil to rock platform just above ocean below very steep corner 20m left of Surges terrace. Flared crack to roof, right then back left to corner.
