Thaurac, it is a magnificent site as we love them, with all the levels, all orientation, all the styles. But well Thaurac, it is a little complicated. It is immense, there is an enormous potential, routes everywhere, cave, all levels of the evolution of the climber as the equipment, then necessarily, the rundown... It is not simple. There is well but a great number of new sectors were born since its last known edition. To simplify, we find there: quite a lot of multi pitch routes, most of them more or less equipped ground of adventure, and many more "sports" sectors. In these sectors, the equipment is generally good, and when they do not appear on the rundown, the openers drew one at feet of ways.

Thaurac and adjacent sites, some topos (in French): http://www.topo-thaurac.com/

approach

Reach Ganges at the North of Montpelier and on the West of Nimes. A hair in the South is Saint Bauzille de Putois, where we set off to the parking lot of the cave des demoiselles for the most part of sectors except 'Wailing Wall'[7539484], for which it is necessary to park on the road of the Ganges. On can also climb on the other bank of the Hérault river, in Euzière, by parking to Agonès (face east).

Lat / Long: 43.872495, 3.871475

description

Topo : Claret, 2010. 64 pages. 18€

Claret, it is at first the brilliant placethe beautiful cliff due south that overhangs the vineyards of a magic valley. It is also a hallucinating, very different climbing for whom this type of limestone has never seen. The rock is indeed very broken, to the point that at the beginning we wonder if it is really solid. And the body movements are very disturbing, with grips rarely directed as we would want, very continuous ways often déversantes with miserable step of blocks in the takeoff. Major. If the easy levels are little represented (on 150 ways, about ten 5-6a, about fifty in 6 and the rest of 7a in 8c ++), the equipment concrete although sometimes spaced out allows to indulge itself at (almost) all the levels.

  • With kids: Very good with kids. The approach isn't to steep and the base of the wall has lots of space for the kids to play. Small children who just learned to walk could have some issues, but even for them there are some good areas.

approach

Park the car at the side of the road (43.8703, 3.8688). From there follow the path to the north, which leads to the crag.

All Bouldering

Lat / Long: 43.737361, 3.363214

description

Small bouldering gem hidden in the forests above Lodève. You can find here boulders of all difficulties, scattered along a long sandstone cliff in a beautiful environment. The rock quality is excellent, the fine grained sandstone almost resembles the one of Fontainebleau.

Locally, a system of coloured arrows is used, indicating the location and the difficulty of problems (pink=kids, yellow=easy, green=not easy, blue=not easy at all, red=difficult). Thus, a visit without topo guide is unproblematic. Many easy boulders for families with kids, but also some hard (and highball) test-pieces.

approach

Park your car on the big "climbing" parking besides the street above the crag. Cross the street and take the obvious path down through the woods to reach sector Ruisseau after few minutes.

You'll find this crag just south of the village Vieussan. The limestone cliff seemed little known, but offers some interesting and fun climbing

approach

For the approach take the roadside parking here: 43.530813, 2.993045 and follow the gravel road on the opposite side of the road for roughly 50m. From there a narrow path leads you down into a mostly dried river bed. After a slightly adventurous decent you'll find the sectors to your right and left. description

Two main cliffs, one facing south for winter and one facing North for summer, set in a beautiful and natural area. Routes from 5a to 8a, most of them in the 6s ans 7s. The Gorges de la Cesse are also a great spot for hikes, swimming, hiding in the caves etc...

All climbing styles are represented here: slab, cracks, lots of overhangs, crimpy vertical walls, traverses, roofs. The routes can be technical and sustained ("conti" in French).

Site d'escalade dans l'ancienne carrière de Boisseron avec 25 voies naturelles d'une hauteur d'une dizaine de mètres et d'un niveau allant de 4a à 6b complétées par des prises en résines.
