Routes in Pacific Ranges for selected grade

Climbs the easternmost of the three major south buttresses of Combatant above the col. Approached via a bench at the elevation of the col (the Shelf)

One of the most technically challenging and committing lines in the Range, this massive route climbs the entire southeast pillar of Mount Combatant from the Tiedemann Glacier far below.

Broken by the subpeak of the Incisor and the ridge of the Jawbone, followed by the Toothless Tower and the final headwall, this is a huge undertaking that took the talented first ascentionists 8 days to complete.

Climb the black, lichen-covered depression in the south face, following corner systems to the east ridge, then to the summit.

Descend the pocket glacier to the base of the southeast buttress. Climb this buttress, through sandy broken terrain and with poor protection in places in the first ~75m. Above this, the rock improves up a steep yellow slab to a small gendarme. Descend into the notch and climb easier ground above to the summit.

Descend as per the West Ridge (down that route.)

Start on 'Hindsight' and just below a small overhang, traverse into 'La Femme Makita'

The extension of Dark Don't Lie, bring gear for the flake. A trad continuation above Cupola Rebuff.

Route furthest left, climb the face and through some balancy overlap

Great consistent 10c climbing into a great rest spot then a 11b crux to the finish

Technical thin crack. No anchor at the top.

This tall face requires good technique. Quality.

Interesting moves up and along the arete.

To the right of "Fly By Night". Fun climbing leads to a steep, juggy traverse and a crux right before the top.

Mixed bolts and gear

Climb "Carmel" and continue traversing right to the end of the wall.

Steep, open corner with a small roof up high. Two small-medium cams for initial crack.

Tricky, with a reachy gear placement.

Gear: Medium offset nuts are the key (2x) .3 to 1, offset nuts

1. (10b) climb crack to ledge and belay

2. (11b) Up dihedral to roof, traverse right and layback up corner crack. Up corner crack to belay bolts on slab. Rap off (50m) or continue up slab to trees and walk off

1. 5.11a, 31m; Start up discontinuous features past a bolt to a short left facing corner and up overhanging flakes and underclings past a few bolts

2. 5.11a, 24m; Wide crack gets you to a short delicate dyke over to the thuggish roof crack, pull the roof and continue up some thought provoking slab

3. 5.9, 27m; Climb off the left side of the belay up some low angle thin cracks. Step right when possible to another thin crack then up a right trending hand crack.

4. 5.11b, 28m: Crux pitch. A bit of wide climbing past a nice chock stone and into the splitter finger crack.

5. 5.10a, 22m: Continue up the crack to the top.
