Begehungen in Gooseberry Hill Quarry

Repeated it again to clean. Still as awesome as the first time =)

Amazing bouldery climb. Loved it. Crimpy first section then it goes to cupping slopers all the way till the jugs at the end.

Got the good beta for the last couple of moves and managed to pull it off on a perfect, warm morning. It's short, but it's a great climb, unlike anything else in Perth I can think of. Get on it, people!

The battle took longer than expected but that makes the fruit all the sweeter. Conditions were perfect this morning, I was feeling strong, and psych was high. And she went clean! Whoops of joy were heard through the valley wide. Thanks to everyone for the many belays!

After work session. Great conditions, warm but not too hot. Sunny. Felt strong. Clean to the forth bolt twice. Finally nailed that last move on the first dog, but it wasn't to be repeated for the redpoint or even for a second dog. Hopes are high for the send next session though!

Same as last time, more or less. Two attempts, dogged all over the place on the first, got to the left arete on the second and fell. Still lacking a workable sequence for the end.

Got to the top rest, then couldn't face the razor-sharp holds at the end.

I felt cold and miserable this morning. Couldn't even hold the first holds on the first attempt as my fingers were so numb. Second attempt got to the good rest again, with a dog on the third. Will come back for a full sun session one day after work. Need more pep.

Had a crack at this after watching the others, forgot what they did and brute-forced the first half. It's a fun time - big overhang, and falls are practically risk-free! Pumpy and demanding, requires forearm endurance, good footwork and finger tape. Will return.

Got to the good rest on the 24 feeling mega solid, placing draws, with the first draw pre clipped. Ticking this 22 variation for some intermediate satisfaction.

Got to the sharp hold clean but that last move still needs a final kicker. A bit of extra adrenaline next time should push it over the line.

Getting to the good rest clean feels relatively easy now. Did it twice, once placing draws.

Making some progress on this great route. Got to the 4th clip with a couple of hairy moments, and have half an idea what to do next. Not running out of strength is a large part of the plan.

Got to the third bolt clean. The forth bolt feels like a solid rest now. Got some new beta for the final moves, but didn't quite make them. Got a flapper and the sun started coming over, so will be back again.

Session 3 saw some great progress this morning. I can visualize getting it clean most of the way now, but that final move still needs work.

Was great to get a visit from the first ascensionist and have a yarn too!

Fantastic line. Looking forward to coming back to finish it off. For now though my hands, body and head are completely pummeled. Time to heal and recover!

Tiny quarry with exactly one route, but it's a good one. As far as I can tell from watching Marc and Gwyn, anyway. I couldn't get past the first clip.

Got all the moves to being inside the triangular notch at the top, with two dogs. Moves on from there seem really hard, especially when pumped. Couldn't figure out the beta but I'm picturing a dynamic throw to the good ledge on the left, with both feet cutting loose. Seems scary. Will continue to work!

Got to the third bolt with a dog on the second. Great fun climbing. The left finish at the top looks hard. Looking forward to coming back for more!

I put this little beasty up in 2009, it's a great steep little outing and fantastic on hot summer mornings as it is in the shade til 11 ish. There is an alternate finish up the right side of the head wall (22)or hard finish up the left (24). Enjoy
