Scenic little walk. PAS'd the chains for security but we didn't bother roping up. It was a bit sobering checking out where and how that guy fell off last year.
Unique as a climb. Used this as training for the young team to get used to the height/Arapiles style. Made it into multi-pitch by setting up a belay about 25m up, just before it goes over a bulge. Rappelled off the carabiners on the chains.
Ali's was the perfect family outing on this hot summers day as it is mostly in shade. We went through Ali Baba's Cave for little adventure and then back to Ali's to The Bluffs. I belayed the kids up the first section to the chain and again on the final scramble from The Bluffs, it was wet in parts.
15m-20m rope should be enough.
Easy walk down Central Gully in the hot summers sun.
Curses! The Unsend! (Replete with red-carpet treatment and private helicopter ride to Melboune). Worst route at Araps?
Seriously, though; I have no words for the scale and magnitude and compassion of everyone who came together to pick me up from the lowest day of my life. I owe a lifetime of hugs and beers, it seems
a sketchy via ferrata route that i don't want to repeat. if this was the bluey's there would be at least a handline to the start of the chains. point made after there was an emergency rescue.
Usual thrash taking kiddies up. Somehow they get quite scarred by the chain... Went up the "amazing" Fang Gully beforehand, and roped scramble opposite Missing Link.
Great adventure route to see the hidden walls of Araps. Via-Ferrata is a novelty and the full return route via the gully descent makes for an awesome and scenic outing.
