Ascents of Daily Planet

A bit soft and not terribly memorable.

For sure two stars. My proudest trad lead to date, very happy with my mental. Probably the first time I wish I had RPs although it wasn't too bad to climb through. I never felt insecure, but definitely took a little bit of time to work out the crux.

Looks quite improbable however, there are stacks of gear! Sonya, you still owe me an ice cream for your first 18 onsite gear!

Fiddly gear and tricky to work out beta for reachy moves. Super satisfying punching on through the insecure positions though

Definitely agree with the fiddly gear comment in the description but awesome moves. Quite techy and you have to trust your feet

Great featured rock.

Amazing! Full value and very thought provoking at the grade. A little reachy in parts, and often gives you good hands or feet, but not both. Gear wasn't bad, and I managed to sew it up with 9 very solid placements, mostly small nuts and micro to loose fingers sized cams. Double ropes helped a lot by allowing wandering placements without rope drag, and the gear in the first half was all there, but certainly trickier than the top half. Didn't use any RPs, but it looked like they could awkwardly be placed in the middle of the sickle crack crux. Much easier to just place a good cam at the start and end of the crack. The chimney and traverse start is easy, and I didn't bother protecting it. Just consider it part of the walk in instead if you don't like it.

Some nice moves on rock not very typical of Arapiles.

Bit pumpy to place gear

Solid gear where it's needed made the spicy moments enjoyable. Better than it looks.

Oh it’s fiddly and small. Spent a bit too long on it but got it.

After a rather rubbish first few metres you step into some awesome climbing.

Off-balance from the ledge and sustained. Bumbled my way through it with many rests, using the time to ponder life.

Pumpy. Gear is a bit fiddly but good.

Top roped it. Nice climb.
