Ascents in Little Cottonwood Canyon having Beta

My first multi-pitch climb! Did it with guide from Red River Adventures.

Climbed the first two pitches of this, then rapped.

Some scary slab for my taste, even with the (sparse) bolts!

Nice slab and crack to get used to the rock.

Great crack climbing with mandatory jamming and some good exposure on your left side.

Onsighted the first "pitch" up to the slung boulder, but then blocked an essential foot jam further up by plugging in a #4 BD cam. Hung three times on a .75 offset cam with my next piece 3m further below me after back-cleaning the #4. Finally managed the mandatory jams and got up the rest of the route easily.

Two more attempts this morning and it went! Super sick long eliminate dyno. Taking a V5 for positive ape index

Long reaches on jugs. Awesome.

Just about latched the hold. Will be back for a last ditch attempt tomorrow

classy climbing all the way I really enjoyed the balancy crux of this climb

really cool cracks to layback off but this was really hard for the grade with a dyno crux

Gosh... No warm up... Such a fun route though... Legs got pumped silly!

The roof is the easy bit! If I come back here I will lead it. I felt pretty comfortable of it despite the steep finger crack. We did this as link up with pentaptich.

Great climbing all finger sized cracks and flakes the whole way up. I lead P1 then just followed for the next two linked pitches.

Beautiful day in the canyon. Haven't been climbing so well lately, so it's nice to send something. Unique moves on some really nice granite.

Good fun. Did Bong Eater first, which made the Hand Eater variation to Bong Eater feel a bit easier.

Excellent crack, with an exhausting finish. So much blood in the crack. Tape, people, tape.

2nd Ascent. From the lowest hold. Not sure if there is another name for it? Low in the grade, but I think it makes the cut. Rare to find these types of featured granite roofs. Could go from even lower, just need to move some rocks.

Soft

classic lcc climb! 3rd and 5th pitches are the best! 7th pitch is a great finish. The 5.11 roof crack move on the 6th pitch start is extremely difficult and awkward.This climb is a must.

Committing move after placing first pro and entering the finger crack. solid ring locks to the top.

Super choss. Don't climb this.

Drew blood, awkward but great!

Fun - mostly lower angle with lots of frictiony stuff. We didn't climb with a topo and found out pretty quick there is a harder variation to the left, some of which we climbed. Start in the 5.8/9 crack to the right of the low-angle slab, and (I think)take the right hand of two routes most of the way, until a traverse to the left for the crux pitch. I didn't see the route veer right on the 5th pitch, so went straight up, but have heard this is the newer variation. Take a 70m rope for the raps, some which tend to be over 100 feet. Take a light rack with one set of cams, up to red or yellow camalot and 5 or 6 small to medium nuts, and you're good to go.

Made it to the first pitch & in came the clouds! Next thing I knew it was raining! A soggy rep. down, and a need to return is all I am left with!
