trying to crack but end up laybacking a lot one quick lap before rushing through traffic

good stuff, one blank slab move near anchor

Fri 26th Apr 2024 - Blue Mountains
Mount Victoria Area Mount Piddington Descent Gully Area

repeat of my first route outdoors two years prior (: still felt desperate

Rosa Gully Rosa Gully North Side
20 The Last Wave - with Lucas Low
1 28 Second lead by Lucas Low

well protected, but still didn't fully trust the gear. we backcleaned the first bolt, then spent ages figuring out the hard mantle. thin sandy crimps and awkward lock offs all the way up. broke a small hold. slightly damp from the sea breeze.

2 12 Sport lead by linna

almost bailed on the move from the anchor. real reachy and bare. thought that was the crux but the line of three bolts 30cm apart led to yet another handholdless mantle. ended up horizontal on the half a metre wide belay ledge watching the waves crash into the rocks hoping i wouldn't roll over the edge. bring runners to save you some rope drag around the corner

3 10 Aid lead by Lucas Low

hard all the way up. at this point i was so exhausted from all the desperate mantles. pulled on the draw coming out of the exposed overhang. thin jug, might break off soon. pulled on lucas through the last mantle to top out. warm sunshine on my face and a lovely belgian guy across the fence interested in our cliff scaling adventure.

Sport 50m, 11
epic half day out. got lost on the approach down some muddy gully, clearly we can't comprehend instructions. feeling queasy from the rusty gear. have never done so many mantles on one route. for sure a bag full of sand. two stars for the scenic view and maybe less for the (scary for me) route. enjoyed bondi after, forgot how beautiful this side of town was

Fri 19th Apr 2024 - Blue Mountains
Blackheath Area Shipley Upper Hot Flyer Wall
19 Jack High - with Angela Ha Sport 20m
choice of bolt spacing is interesting. run out as hell at the crux mantle, never want to do that again

22 Lardy Lady's Lats - with Angela Ha Sport 25m, 13
stiff as. can't link the move into the crux, but can do the crux now! too pumped to come out of the cave to do the lock offs on slab

23 A Streaker Named Desire - with Angela Ha Sport 25m, 13
wet crimps. forgot how nice the moves were

Fri 12th Apr 2024 - Blue Mountains

23 Master Plan - with Angela Ha Sport 15m
four laps on the ‘crux’ (which was half the route). a bit too scrunched up for me, synovitis flaring up again from pulling on crimps

20 Marooned - with Angela Ha Sport 12m
properly started on the arete this time

20 Marooned - with Angela Ha Sport 12m
pretty cooked with the 22 start

Wed 3rd Apr 2024 - Blue Mountains
Blackheath Area Porters Pass Sail Away Wall
24 Black Heathen - with james Sport 25m
a consistently desperate route, some moves felt a bit reachy for me. so pumpy, but two good rests in between.

Blackheath Area Porters Pass Chasing Amy Wall
21 Chasing Amy - with james Sport 22m
so good to see progress (:

22 Spread 'em Baby - with james Sport 25m
james decided to ‘warm up’ on this. felt so comfortable on this since my onsight attempt a while back. broke off a piece of a thin flake just under the anchor bolts with my thumb before committing to the finger crack to a great undercling jug to finish.

Fri 29th Mar 2024 - Koh Tao

5b Chilled Monkey Brains Sport 15m, 6
ah finally felt fearless bridging, gets easier halfway when it narrows out

6b+ ~6b Kali Ma Sport 10m, 4
longest 10m i've climbed. thin crimps and delicate footwork. love the fitting route name.

6a Forearmed Sport 13m, 5
first time seeing/using pigtail anchors, such a luxury!

6a/a+ The Reach Around Sport 18m, 8
6a+ just for the slab section before the anchor. cool undercling traverse move

6c ~6b Plastic Tokay Sport 25m, 10
not as intimidating as i thought it'd be. bridge across the water gap to start, spot some climbing fishes scale the rock. one reachy crux between third and fourth bolt. thanks to the lovely belgians for putting up the draws (:

Wed 27th Mar 2024 - Koh Tao
Jansom Bay
6a/a+ Leg Day Sport 35m
spicy climb post sunset with a hella scenic approach. peter somehow misread the length of the route so we hopped on this 35m line with a 50m rope. quick thinking we decided i second it after lowering him halfway and pulling him back up to the anchor. topped out and saw a mountain goat at the top of the cliff, what a sight. bushbashed a steep descent to get back on the track. as for the climb itself, started by desperately clinging onto the pile of branches to a mossy scramble. giant purple crab sighted in a potential hand hold. back on the slabbier wall until it got too wide then switched walls. well spaced out bolts. jugs near the top of the chimney, thought it was all over but a long delicate slab was waiting for me. reminiscent of wacky tabacci back home. type 1.5 kind of fun. leg day indeed. roughly 15 bolts + anchor

Tue 26th Mar 2024 - Koh Tao
The backyard
6A No.20 M - with Cuong Boulder
tough for the grade and confusing description. i did a sit start then threw to the crack rail, traversed right and matched on the lower rail. tricky high feet.

6B+ Balance way - with Cuong Boulder
real small edges, could not ascend

5 Too smart - with Cuong Boulder
impossible to sit start. did the stand start instead and avoided the overgrown top out

4+ Apple tree - with Cuong Boulder
first granite climb! hard to get established then it's nice, can throw in a right knee bar if feeling frisky

6A+ Nepal tree - with Cuong Boulder
nice & straight forward

The Nest & Wild Kingdom
7a Freedom Safari Sport 28m, 10
up until the 2nd last bolt, similar moves to mutual of omaha next to it. rested at the crux to figure out the real nice techy sequence to the anchor. good last climb of tonsai, will be back!

6c Mutual of Omaha Sport 25m, 8
last crag of tonsai, decided to be brave and put up the draws. lots of beta from daye for this zig zaggy route, he taught me to enjoy and appreciate sustained lines. pushed through the pump on this mega long juggy overhang.

Sun 24th Mar 2024 - Ton Sai
Tyrolean Wall
7a Lars & Lars Sport 25m, 9

6c+ The Lion King - with Angela Ha Sport 12m, 4
felt more doable than the last attempt at midnight. found a nice new sequence for the end! LF heel hook match LH, then throw LH to megajug. or just deadpoint the RH with high feet.

6b Right Hand of Buddha - with Angela Ha Sport 15m, 5
tad easier then captain hook, more holds available. this wall has really nice routes for how short they are.

6b+ Sea Monkeys - with Angela Ha Sport 30m, 12
thought this was the start to 4:20. super desperate bouldery start, had to downclimb to not deck it.

6a 4:20 - with Angela Ha Sport 15m, 5
one of the hardest 6a’s i’ve tried. super polished. pulled hard on a mono and a ringlock?! guidebook topo is incorrect, start on the ledge sloping up left to right to avoid the risky direct start.

Jurassic X-Mas
6c Diana Ross - with Cuong Sport 23m, 11 Classic
debating whether i tick this or not... dialled down the two cruxes, felt so smooth. traversed to the anchor the proper way this time, attempted to clip the anchor 4 times but failed. there's one locker and one biner at the anchor, locker was locked and biner was upside down. pumped out from trying to reshuffle them around, and was too far from the rest to downclimb. later someone told me i could have put my own draw up to clip!! tunnel-visioned so hard i forgot that was an option

guidebook says 6 draws, i think we used 9 and backcleaned

6c Diana Ross - with Cuong Sport 23m, 11 Classic
lovely permadraws. didn't know at the time but i went to the anchor via the gladiator extension instead of following the red draws to the right. you'll know you went the wrong way if the anchor is at your feet

Thu 14th Mar 2024 - Railay
Wee's Present Wall
6a A Man Can Tell a 1000 Lies Sport 15m, 4
precarious high first sling. run out but safe

Sport 25m
decided to do a multipitch after a 2 hour maccas and bank break. five routes within a metre apart of each other, so hard to find the second pitch so we bailed after p1. thecrag and guidebook topo are different. i really enjoyed this. thanks to sodiq, the crag owner's son, for cheering me on through the crimpy lockoff crux

6b Lightning Grip - with marcusglue Sport 25m, 14
stiff crux with polished feet. skipped the move as i was faffing too hard

6b 3 Brothers - with marcusglue Sport 22m, 7
high first clip, fun dihedral crack then crux over the mini roof and traverse left then back right to the anchor.

Sat 9th Mar 2024 - Gunung Lang
East Wall
6b Route 4 - with marcusglue Sport 18m, 8
fun route, had a little fright at the crux because a) i could deck while mantling, b) all the pocket handholds had spiders and webs in them, and c) two fixed hangers were loose

6a Marrybrown - with marcusglue Sport 18m Don't Bother
hard boulder start on tufa then a grade 5 the rest of the way. 9 slings + an optional 2 if you want rope drag. stay left approaching the anchor. at least two rotten slings need replacing and make sure to check the rappel maillon is screwed shut. needs some heavy cleaning

Jurassic X-Mas
6a+ Queen of the Highway Sport 30m, 13
bloody long route, lots of zig zagging, trial and erroring, almost didn't make it. first crux is the bamboo ladder approach. harder than 6b natalie

5 Carrie On Sport 20m
walked 20 minutes in the heat with long pants and a thick cotton shirt because all my other clothes were in the washing machine. sandbagged due to decking potential, and not as juggy as one thinks

6a Find a Heart Sport 15m, 10
good stuff. just when it was getting hard, found some tufas to stem off. apparently anchor has been relocated half a metre higher, which made for an awkward clip horizontally

legitimately found this harder than a 6b+. probably because it was my first hard climb in the humidity, snorting bugs and wishing i had earplugs to block out the bzzing sound. weird line of bolts, super pumpy and run out near the top. pushed through the fear somehow. two attempts at the hard start, me no like tufas

hell yeah, so happy with this and thankful for the support through the crux. was going to give up a few times. traverse was like 'so, said the king' back home so i knew i could go for it. post-crux face climb was soooo polished, needed to be careful to not lose my footing

5b Bi-dihedral - with Lucas Low, alfie jones, Peta Somerville, Angela Ha Sport 15m
struggled with the stemming and route reading as i was trying too hard to stay in the dihedral. more like face climbing. loose rock near top
