well protected, but still didn't fully trust the gear. we backcleaned the first bolt, then spent ages figuring out the hard mantle. thin sandy crimps and awkward lock offs all the way up. broke a small hold. slightly damp from the sea breeze.

almost bailed on the move from the anchor. real reachy and bare. thought that was the crux but the line of three bolts 30cm apart led to yet another handholdless mantle. ended up horizontal on the half a metre wide belay ledge watching the waves crash into the rocks hoping i wouldn't roll over the edge. bring runners to save you some rope drag around the corner

hard all the way up. at this point i was so exhausted from all the desperate mantles. pulled on the draw coming out of the exposed overhang. thin jug, might break off soon. pulled on lucas through the last mantle to top out. warm sunshine on my face and a lovely belgian guy across the fence interested in our cliff scaling adventure. | 50m, 11 | ||||
epic half day out. got lost on the approach down some muddy gully, clearly we can't comprehend instructions. feeling queasy from the rusty gear. have never done so many mantles on one route. for sure a bag full of sand. two stars for the scenic view and maybe less for the (scary for me) route. enjoyed bondi after, forgot how beautiful this side of town was

spicy climb post sunset with a hella scenic approach. peter somehow misread the length of the route so we hopped on this 35m line with a 50m rope. quick thinking we decided i second it after lowering him halfway and pulling him back up to the anchor. topped out and saw a mountain goat at the top of the cliff, what a sight. bushbashed a steep descent to get back on the track. as for the climb itself, started by desperately clinging onto the pile of branches to a mossy scramble. giant purple crab sighted in a potential hand hold. back on the slabbier wall until it got too wide then switched walls. well spaced out bolts. jugs near the top of the chimney, thought it was all over but a long delicate slab was waiting for me. reminiscent of wacky tabacci back home. type 1.5 kind of fun. leg day indeed. roughly 15 bolts + anchor

hell yeah, so happy with this and thankful for the support through the crux. was going to give up a few times. traverse was like 'so, said the king' back home so i knew i could go for it. post-crux face climb was soooo polished, needed to be careful to not lose my footing

struggled with the stemming and route reading as i was trying too hard to stay in the dihedral. more like face climbing. loose rock near top
