Begehungen in Major Mitchell Gully als Hang dog

Managed to get pumped before the crux, downclimbed to gear and sat. Crux took some working out, look for the feet. A ball nut was handy. Must revisit.

Farkin unreal!!!! Probably favourite climb of the trip. My calf muscles still hurt. Did all the moves clean but was stumped by the crux at first. Very excited to come back for vengeance. Thanks Lauren for putting me on it!

This felt insanely hard. Like 26 hard. The start was also extremely runout on holds that could totally explode. Might have missed some gear in the spiderweb crack but also didn’t feel like hanging around and placing it. I definitely would have hit the deck if I fluffed it at around 6-7 metres. Feels like the most bold section of climbing I have done. Totally scary and felt kind of stupid for climbing on. Lol. The actual trench part of the climb is fine and really fun.

Hard crux

Big struggle, well above my grade but still very fun. Hard first sequence with some down climbs and testing gear. Managed to go for the throw to the jug on my last attempt, then sieged my way up, resting after each bulge. Strong, physical climbing and a couple desperate hand jams to get through to the top.

Had to sit on the rope to get a horribly cammed piece

got it mixed up with the bolted route. was trying somethign in between the crack and using the bolts, making it harder because of trying to move from one to the other. got to the top but had to rest on gear, but still no trust to risk a fall

Found this a pretty hard lead. I was quite confident before starting and pulled the first couple of moves off the ground with a spring in my step. Then came the crux and that confidence quickly evaporated looking for gear. Pumped out wiggling a bad wire under the flake, tried to sit on it and it promptly pulled, leaving me dangling a metre off the ground with the pressure of the onsight gone.

Second attempt I tried getting gear in the right crack - found a BD#4 wire, then stitched it up with a #.5 and #2 cam. Then I had a sit.

Eventually found the right moves cranking on left hand side pulls (more useful than the nearby heavily chalked slopey lip) and gained the jug.

From there I battled through, milking every ledge and grunting through every bulge. My hand was battered trying to jam the rattly crack with loose holds (eventually I crimped something inside that worked better). I was buffeted by the wind, copped some light rain, and put my hands and feet on wet holds. I dropped a biner while desperately trying to extend a #.4 while pumping out even though I had a jug. I used almost every piece of a double rack and had to get creative and back clean to build an anchor. But I stubbornly went from the crux to the top in one push.

I can appreciate that this is a 19 redpoint for someone familiar with the beta or on second, but it felt nails to onsight while trying to figure out the pro and the moves on a windy bulge. Seems comparable to 'The Janicepts' tbh.
